Southport Flower Show.

This week sees the start of  ‘Southport Flower Show’.  From the 19th – 22nd August.

This brings back many many happy memories for me.  Having lived out my teenage years in Southport with a fantastic bunch of friends.  I remember visiting the Flower Show which is well worth doing and losing my Grandad!  Ofcourse, this was long before mobile phones.  I don’t even remember a loudspeaker announcement asking us to collect him from the ‘lost Grand parents point!’  I remember walking round and round the show looking for him!  We eventually found this exhausted little man who had bought every gadget going – he loved his gadgets and asking us to take him home and make his some tea!  Bless him.

So if you go, visit the Access Garden Products stand at ‘H7’ and keep hold of your Grandad!

Enjoy the show.

  1. IN ALL OF OUR YEARS LIVING IN SOUTHPORT I NEVER ONCE WENT TO THE SHOW. THE CLOSEST I CAME WAS GOING TO THE FUN FAIR TO WAIT FOR MUM AND DAD.

    LOVE, SIMON

    • Why are you shouting? I thought that when you write in caps lock, you are shouting at me. I hear you! Maybe it wasn’t your thing. If it had been a concert with ‘The Eagles’ or ‘Bee Bop Deluxe’ – you would have been there.
Doesn’t it bring back fab memories, Coudray Road, Hesketh park, Marine Lake! You had some happy times there too!
      Lots of love Anne. x

  2. Thanks to those kind words for Southport! There were lots of visitors to the show. The weather was kind for a good part of it. Gadget selling was still going on although the “pitch” building seemed less easy for them.
Time to harvest my giant garlic. I’ve let my cabbages become doilies while I’ve been away!

    • I too have had doilies for cabbages, absolutely disgusting when they were dripping in caterpillars. I’m not sure I’d bother trying to grow them next year, they seem to be trouble makers to the garden – do you agree?

I’m going to stick to well behaved veg like leeks and garlic. Much for compliant to the conditions!

      Anne.
